| Title: AIX Admin III: Performance & Tuning
|
AIX system administrators who want to analyze and improve the performance of AIX systems. Important new features in AIX 6.1 regarding performance and tuning will be discussed and compared with AIX 5.3.
A familiarity with UNIX and AIX commands for measuring and analyzing system performance. Ability to recognize bottlenecks and to recommend solutions to improve performance. During the course special attention will be paid to the interaction of the individual components. In a further step participants conduct analyses of typical performance scenarios and their problems as they arise on the job.
Overview - Performance and tuning -- Logical and physical resources - Methodology - Tuning parameters in AIX 5.3 and AIX 6.1 AIX workload manager /AIX workload partitions Functionality, monitoring, analysis, and tuning of: - CPU - Memory - Disks / LVM - Filesystems (jfs and jfs2) - Networks Discussion of exemplary case studies - Typical system environments - Performance bottlenecks - Methods for concrete analysis and solutions AIX performance tools
